High-Tech Problems

Don't we all just love all our high-tech gear? Now we can keep up with our e-mails while waiting in the doctor's office.  We have smart phones, touch screen phones, blue tooth, texting, internet, twitter, facebook, linked in .... and the list goes on.  This is great when used correctly and with the right motives.
If you are reading this, you have probably read our newsletter about 15 year old, Phoebe Prince, who committed suicide after relentless bullying over her dating a particular boy in her new school.  As if the bullying wasn't enough, the mean students resorted to cyberbullying, by sending her many texts and broadcasting lies about her to everyone in the school via social networks.
Bullying is not a new issue, by any means, but over the last few years cyberbullying has become rampant and Phoebe is not the first suicide.  In the matter of a couple of minutes, students can spread rumors to hundreds of students about someone they don't like.
Read our newsletter to be informed of common signs to watch for in your children and their friends. (If you did not receive our newsletter, please send an e-mail to Tara at connectioncenter@sbcglobal.net requesting to be placed on our mailing list.)  The newsletter article also recommends the STOP, BLOCK AND TELL advice to help keep our young people safe.
Share with us if you have experienced bullying, cyberbullying or if you know of children who have. If you want others to help with your solutions, post them here.  Let's get creative and help each other out.  CONNECTING WITH US is our new blog and we hope to interact with many of you.  There is no end to the topics we can discuss here:  relationships, depression, addictions, women's issues ... whatever you wish.  Feel free to change the topic anytime.
Happy Blogging for 2010.
